FukushimaStadium

About

Fukushima United FC and architecture startup VUILD have envisioned Japan’s first circular wooden soccer stadium.

The design incorporates environmental measures such as passive strategies for natural ventilation, rainwater and snow reuse, and natural cooling using ice—balancing energy self-sufficiency with occupant comfort.

Built with locally sourced timber from Fukushima Prefecture, the structure is designed so that components can be disassembled and reused, placing resource circulation and community participation at its core.

During the fabrication of building components, club members and local residents will be invited to take part in festival-like events—reminiscent of mikoshi processions or the traditional raising of giant timbers.
